10 life lessons from 'The Gifted: Graduation'
As The Gifted: Graduation nears its end, your favorite superhuman barkada will have to bid farewell once again.
From unlocking and honing their gifts to trying to overthrow their school's unjust system, the Gifted Class journeyed through a challenging road filled with value-adding lessons on friendship, youth empowerment, and self-improvement.
Revisit the important takeaways we learned from the award-winning Thai series, The Gifted: Graduation.
The youth have a change-making voice
'The Gifted: Graduation' welcomed the new school year with Time's earnest campaign to revive the Gifted Program after being dissolved for two years.
Time, Grace, and the rest of the students who united in this movement were a crucial representation of the youth's role in impacting bigger change in society.
Fail forward
Following Jack and Wave's failed revolt, the sequel to the award-winning Thai series highlighted the importance of seeing failure as a nudge forward instead of a step back.
Although hesitant and disheartened, the Gifted Class reunited with a strengthened passion for their mission to dismantle the school's oppressive system.
Unlocking your potential is only the first step
Throughout the story, the gifted students were firm in their belief that discovering your gift may seem meaningless if not used and developed.
Superhuman or not, everyone is blessed with their own gifts but it takes a lot of courage to admit that it needs to be further explored and improved to meet its highest potential.
Grow at your own pace
One of the highlights of the series was Time's heartfelt pep-talk with Grace who felt discouraged for having discovered her gifts much later than everyone else.
Throughout the two seasons of 'The Gifted,' several gifted characters have felt troubled from unlocking their potential at a later stage. And the message is clear: Self-discovery and growth should not be seen as a race or a competition. Everything will unravel at its own pace.
Use your gifts for a greater purpose
'The Gifted: Graduation' revealed the human imperfections and vulnerabilities of these gifted students. Like everyone, they also have their own weaknesses, especially when faced with conflict and temptation.
But once reminded of the reason behind their mission, they are brought back to what they believe is the purpose of their gifts - to help achieve equality.
When the going gets tough, hold on to hope
Left with his crumbling friendship with the rest of the gifted students, there was a time when Jack felt alone in continuing with their mission. Some gifted students have grown tired from the pressure of reversing the school's oppressive system while others have simply started to lose faith in their purpose.
But Jack held on to that bit of hope left in his heart. He was determined to protect his friends, push through with their mission, and achieve an equal world for students like him.
Working together beats working alone
Jack learned this the hard way when his best friend Wave expressed his anger at him for not telling the others about his plans. Wave heartbreakingly stressed that Jack was only using him when he was needed and this confrontation reminded Jack of the importance of trusting your friends.
Fights and disagreements may be inevitable for missions like these but the Gifted Class has also constantly proven that their chances are better when they trust each other and work as one.
Good friends are with you through highs and lows
While the gifted students were working towards one mission throughout the series, each of them was also going through their own trials and challenges. Whether it be mourning the loss of a friend or feeling the pain of betrayal, their individual journeys haven't been an easy ordeal.
But there were precious in-between moments that showed how delightful life is, in highs and lows, when you're with the company of people who mean the most to you.
True friendship overcomes all trials
A lot of lessons on friendship were conveyed in 'The Gifted: Graduation,' but one of its most important messages is on friendship prevailing despite whatever challenge comes their way.
The Gifted Class faced hurdle after hurdle. They lost friends and loved ones along the way but in the end, their friendship remained a constant source of strength and purpose for all of them.
