Khalil Ramos wins Best Actor for 'Olsen's Day' at CinePanalo 2025
Khalil Ramos marked a new career milestone as he clinched the Best Actor award at a local film festival on Wednesday, March 19.
The Kapuso star was hailed Best Actor for his role as Olsen in JP Habac's Olsen's Day at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2025.
Khalil tied with child actor JP Larroder, who played Tata in Tigkiliwi, for the prestigious award at the festival this year.
In an interview with the press on the red carpet, Khalil said he learned a lot from his character.
“Na-remind ako what life is all about. Kung bakit ba natin ginagawa 'yung mga ginagawa natin para sa mga mahal natin sa buhay,” Khalil explained.
Meanwhile, Khalil expressed his gratitude for the cast and crew in his acceptance speech. He also shared more lessons he learned from the film.
“Pinaalala sa 'kin ng pelikulang ito na lahat naman tayo may binibitbit. Lahat tayo ay minsan naliligaw pero gaano man kahaba o kahirap ang biyahe, kailangan tandaan lang natin na tayo pa rin ang nasa likod ng manibela. Minsan ang kailangan natin gawin ay huminto lang ng saglit, lingunin ang ating mga mahal sa buhay, at ipaalala sa kanila na hindi pa rin natin sila nakakalimutan,” Khalil mused.
The Sparkle actor thanked JP Habac in his speech, who was later hailed Best Director.
“Salamat sa tiwala mo, direk. Alam kong sobrang personal nitong pelikula na 'to para sa 'yo at para pagkatiwalaan mo ko na maging bahagi ng proyektong ito, napakalaking bagay na para sa 'kin 'yun,” Khalil said.
Olsen's Day also took home Best Cinematography, alongside Journeyman, and the Mowelfund Special Citation.
The movie also stars Romnick Sarmenta and Bodjie Pascua, who were nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and Sherry Lara and Che Ramos, who were nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
Olsen's Day, along with other entries of the CinePanalo Film Festival 2025, will still be screened at the Gateway Cineplex 18 in Cubao until March 25.
