Khalil Ramos, Anthony Rosaldo share the stage as Elesi in 'Liwanag Sa Dilim'
Khalil Ramos and Anthony Rosaldo will be playing the same role in 9Works Theatrical's Liwanag Sa Dilim but their portrayal of Elesi would be different from one another.
During a press visit to their rehearsals in Makati, Khalil and Anthony both said that they have their own ways to bring Elesi to life, as part of them can relate to their character.
Khalil said, "Si Elesi, he goes on a journey finding his own identity. Kagaya ng totoong buhay, lahat tayo may kanya-kanyang journey, lahat tayo may kanya-kanyang identity. Ganun rin dito. What the truth of the material is to me is very different from Anthony's kasi magkaiba kami ng kinalakihan, magkaiba kami ng journey bilang tao."
"Siyempre, may similarities pero in general, magkaibang-magkaiba siya. So, I couldn't say for now, ayoko i-spoil 'yung physical difference or whatever, magkaiba kami ng atake, dahil siyempre, magkaiba kaming tao, magkaiba 'yung pagkakaintindi namin sa script, pero guided pa rin kami by the truth of the story."
For Anthony, it would be his first time alternating a character with someone. He previously portrayed Young Hector in Ang Huling El Bimbo and Roger in Rent The Musical.
"First time ko na magkakaroon ng alternate. It's a first time na meron akong comparison 'yung work ko sa work niya, pero, siyempre, magkaiba naman kami ng ginagawa kasi magkakaiba kami ng experiences. It's different din how we react sa ka-eksena namin, mapapansin naman ng lahat na magkaiba 'yung ginagawa namin," he said.
"Elesi is an orphan, so, wala na 'yung dad ko, humuhugot ako doon. I have a lot of experiences in my life that I use in portraying Elesi."
Liwanag Sa Dilim, featuring the songs of Rico Blanco, premieres on March 7, Friday, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
