Dennis Trillo shows off first Best Actor award from MMFF 2018
Dennis Trillo took home a major award from the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) awards night or "MMFF 50 Gabi Ng Parangal" last Friday, December 27, at The Theater at Solaire in ParaƱaque City.
The Kapuso actor won the Best Actor award for Green Bones. Other nominees for the said category were Vice Ganda (And the Breadwinner Is...), Seth Fedelin (My Future You), Vic Sotto (The Kingdom), Piolo Pascual (The Kingdom), and Arjo Atayde (Topakk).
Dennis reminisced on his first Best Actor Award from the MMFF back in 2018 for One Great Love.
He also took to Threads to share his appreciation for the recognition and encouraged others to do the same.
"Maging masaya para sa tagumpay ng kapwa," Dennis wrote on Threads.
During his acceptance speech, Dennis expressed his gratitude, "Wow! Para akong aatakihin sa puso. Maraming salamat po dito sa karangalan na ito. Isang napakalaking karangalan na tumanggap ng isang napaka-espesyal na parangal sa harap ninyong lahat.
"Lagi ko pong sinasabi na ngayong araw ng kapaskuhan, ayaw ko na pong magpaka-stress sa pakikipagkumpitensya o pakikipag pagalingan sa kahit kanino man dahil pakiramdam namin panalo na kami nu'ng naipasok pa lang sa sampung entries dito sa 50th anniversary ng Metro Manila Film Fest ang Green Bones. Kaya palakpakan po natin ang mga sarili natin. Winners tayong lahat."
Dennis went on to thank MMFF, MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority), GMA Films, and the people who trusted and supported him, including his "number one supporter," his wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado.
"Maraming salamat sa MMFF, sa MMDA, sa lahat ng mga nagdesisyon para mabigay ang mga parangal na ito ngayong gabi. Maraming salamat po sa mga taong naniniwala sa akin. Sa GMA Films, Ms. Annette Gozon, Ms. Nessa, Sir Ricky Lee, JC Rubio, Anj Atienza, na nanalong Best Screenplay. Sa aming direktor, Direk Zig Dulay, maraming salamat sa tiwalang binigay niyo sa akin. Sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa 'kin," said Dennis.
"Sa aking number one supporter, nandun po ang aking asawa, si Ms. Jennylyn Mercado. Maraming salamat! Inaalay ko 'to, ang award na 'to, sa aking pamilya. Sila po talaga ang nagi-inspire sa 'kin para pagbutihin 'tong ginagawa ko na 'to na i-maximize lahat ng opportunity na binibigay sa 'kin. Maraming salamat po. Hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan 'to. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Thank you. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino."
Dennis played the role of the infamous prisoner Domingo Zamora.
Green Bones swept several awards including Best Picture, actor Ruru Madrid took home the Best Supporting Actor award, Best Screenplay for Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza and Best Child Performer for Sienna Stevens.
