Sparkle artists learn about cybersecurity in "Maging Listo, Huwag Magpaloko!" workshop
The Sparkle artists had a fun learning session about online safety and security.
Through Sparkle's partnership with BPI, the artists learned about protecting their data against cybercrime and how to share their knowledge with the public through their platforms.
The "Maging Listo, Huwag Magpaloko!" cybersecurity workshop with Sparkle artists took place on Friday, October 18, at Discovery Primea Makati. GMA Network Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications, Ms. Angel Javier-Cruz, emphasized the event's timeliness.
She said, "It is auspicious to hold this workshop during cybersecurity awareness month."
She also reminded the Sparkle stars of their ability to assist the public through digital platforms.
"You have the instruments to inform, to inspire, and to educate through your digital platforms. We are fortunate to have a powerhouse, roster of beauty queens, singers, actors, sports stars, and models. Each of you brings a unique brilliance, that enlightens and inspires our audience."
Part of the event are Alethea Ambrosio, Angel Leighton, Aya Domingo, AZ Martinez, Bont Bryant Oropel, Brent Valdez, Cheska Fausto, Dave Bornea, Elijah Alejo, Javi Valdes, John Clifford, Josh Ford, Keisha Serna, Kim Perez, Liana Castillo, Maika Kemmochi, Meghan Dionisio, Mitzi Josh, Nikki Co, Prince Carlos, Prince Clemente, Shanelle Agustin, Zyren Dela Cruz, Patricia Coma, Larkin Castor, and Egypt, Kairo, Lukas, and Johann of Cloud 7. The informative workshop was hosted by Rain Matienzo.
AZ shared what she learned from this morning's workshop. She said, "As we evolve, nage-evolve din ang mga scammers. It's important that we're really aware of different kinds of possibilities na mangyayari sa atin."
Elijah discussed the importance of learning about cybersecurity.
"Habang yung mga banks gumagawa ng ways para ma-secure 'yung mga pinaghirapan natin, 'yung mga hackers din mas nagiging creative para mapaniwala tayo sa mga ginagawang sites to scam us. We have to know those para alam natin paano sila maiiwasan."
Meghan shared the recent information they learned about the Philippines regarding cybercrime. She said, "They also mentioned the Philippines is third sa Southeast Asia na pinaka-prone to cyberattacks so sobrang informative ng talk kanina."
Meanwhile, Kim stressed the importance of knowing the possibility of being a cybercrime victim when sharing information.
"Dito natin nalaman paano ba maiiwasan. Kanino ba natin dapat ibigay ang information natin like name, birthday, especially sa credit card natin."
