Vilma Santos, Cassy Legaspi react to inclusion of 'When I Met You in Tokyo' in MMFF 2023
Vilma Santos expressed excitement about her movie titled When I Met You in Tokyo, which is one of the 10 official entries in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
In a text message sent to select entertainment reporters, the Star for All Seasons said about the inclusion of his reunion movie with Christopher de Leon, “Thank you, MMFF, for the trust. Team work ang movie na ito. Very simple love story but beautiful. [Mayroong] lessons ang movie -- love has no boundaries, forgiveness, and moving forward in love and life. Simple but beautiful.”
Cassy Legapsi, who is also part of the movie, likewise thanked the MMFF committee for choosing their movie to be part of this year's film festival.
In a short video sent to GMANetwork.com, the former First Yaya actress said, “To the MMFF committee, we thank you for considering our film to be one of the official entries in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.
“We are truly happy and honored with this opportunity para i-share sa viewers ang aming magandang pelikula. Unahin niyo ang When I Met You in Tokyo kung gusto niyong umiyak, kiligin, and learn that love knows no boundaries.”
When I Met You in Tokyo is one of the six films announced on Tuesday, September 17. Other films were Becky and Badette, starring Eugene Domingo and Pokwang; Mallari, starring Piolo Pascual and Janella Salvador; Firefly, starring Alessandra de Rossi; Broken Hearts Trip, starring Christian Bables; and Gomburza, starring Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, Piolo Pascual and Cedrick Juan.
Early this year, MMFF announced the first four entries of its 49th edition. These included Rewind, starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera; A Mother and Son's Story, starring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards; (K)ampon, starring Beauty Gonzalez and Derek Ramsay, and Penduko, starring Matteo Guidicelli and Cristine Reyes.
