Michelle Dee, nag-take two sa beauty pageants dahil sa pandemic
Unang sumalang sa beauty pageants si actress, model and host Michelle Dee noong taong 2019 sa edad na 24.
Hindi raw itinuturing ni Michelle na "late" ang pagpasok ni sa pageants kung saan karamihan ay sumasali as early as 18 years old.
Ibinahagi yan ni Michelle sa pagsalang niya sa lie detector test sa vlog ng kaibigang si Bea Alonzo.
"Years before I joined Miss World, years before I joined my first pageant, I already had that mindset that I'm gonna join eventually. Then I kept backing out year after year after year because I felt like I wasn't ready," kuwento ni Michelle.
Aminado siya na bahagi ng desisyong ito ang success ng kanyang nanay na si Melanie Marquez na kinoronahan bilang Miss International noong 1979.
"I wanted to give myself justice just because of the pressure that was on my shoulders being the daughter of Melanie Marquez. I really had to take into account how prepared I felt, personally, in that phase of my life," aniya.
Kinoronahan si Michelle bilang Miss World Philippines noong 2019 at umbot naman sa Top 12 ng Miss World pageant na ginanap sa London.
Wala raw plano si Michelle na umulit o sumali pa muli sa beauty pageants pero nagbago ang kanyang mga balak dahil sa pandemic.

"Little do people know, I thought I would be one and done. Then the pandemic hit. My reign got #quaREIGNtined. I didn't get to maximize the things that I wanted to do, use the platform for all of the projects that I had planned. The whole opportunity just stopped," bahagi niya.
Nanghinayang daw si Michelle sa mga naudlot na oportunidad kaya nagdesisyon siyang sumubok muli sa pageants.
"Imagine just waiting four years to be prepared mentally and physically and then coming back from London and then the world just stopped. I really had to give myself justice, the platform justice, my advocacies justice, and try again," lahad niya.

Sumabak si Michelle sa Miss Universe Philippines 2022 kung saan hinirang siya bilang Miss Universe Philippines Tourism.
Sa sumunod na taon, sumalang muli si Michelle sa Miss Universe Philippines 2023 kung nabingwit na niya ang korona.
Si Michelle ang magiging katawan ng Pilipinas sa Miss Universe 2023 pageant na nakatakda ngayong November sa El Salvador.
