President Bongbong Marcos said Mike "dedicated his life to delivering unbiased news."

President Bongbong Marcos mourned the death and paid tribute to GMA Integrated News pillar Mike Enriquez, who died on August 29, at the age of 71.

On X (formerly Twitter), President Marcos described Mike as "a pillar" in the country's broadcasting industry.

"We are saddened by news of the passing of veteran anchor Mike Enriquez, a pillar in our broadcasting industry," the post read.

"He dedicated his life to delivering unbiased news to the Filipino people. Our heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this time."

In an earlier statement, President Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil described Mike as their "partner" in delivering "honest and unbiased news."

Recognized as one of the pillars of GMA Integrated News, Mike built a reputation as an award-winning broadcast journalist in his five decades as a TV anchor and radio broadcaster.
