Gloria Diaz tells Michelle Dee to ignore bashers
The first Pinay Miss Universe Gloria Diaz was thrilled that Sparkle beauty queen Michelle Dee won the right to represent the country in the prestigious pageant that will be held in El Salvador.
In her exclusive chat with 24 Oras, Miss Gloria stated it was nice to see fellow beauty queen Miss International 1979 winner Melanie Marquez overjoyed to witness the success of her daughter Michelle.
“Nakita ko lang that she was crowned. Very nice! And Mimi [Melanie Marquez] was so proud,” she said.
Gloria also shared this advice to our new Miss Universe Philippines on how to deal with her bashers.
She said, “When I won Miss Philippines they said it was lutong Macau. And one or two people etcetera, pero I didn't even know what lutong Macau means.
“And then afterwards, after I won Miss Universe nag-faint nga sila, e.” Diaz recalled
“Ang puno nagbubunga siyempre babatuhin nila yan. But just do your best, enjoy, and just pretend they don't exist.”

During her interview with 24 Oras, actress-beauty queen also expressed her thoughts about transwomen competing in the Miss Universe pageant.
According to Gloria, “I'm not really for it. I always feel that they have to join their own competition, kasi baka matalo kami mga babae. Kasi, maraming mga male turned female na super ganda.”
“People don't realize how close I am to LGBT [QIA+]. They don't realize that I love them.”
Before bagging the Miss Universe Philippines crown, Michelle Dee already competed in the Miss World pageant in 2019, where she placed in the Top 12.
