Keempee de Leon turned emotional after winning best supporting actor at 1st Summer MMFF
Keempee de Leon was extremely surprised after he received the news that he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023. He won for his portrayal of Rodrigo in the comedy movie Here Comes The Groom.
The son of Henyo Master Joey de Leon wrote a lengthy post on Instagram to share his thoughts about this huge win.
On his Instagram post, Keempee wrote, “First and foremost i would like to thank My Abba Father God My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit for the guidance blessing of ability, talent and for everything you have blessed me with Thank you to all of the members of Summer MMFF and CEAP and all the Jury I am truly humbled thankful and grateful for this wonderful Recognition/Award. “
Admittedly, Keempee turned emotional after receiving the confirmation that he won, since it has been a couple of years since he got a recognition.
“ I really cried when Atty. Joji told me I won the Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role coz it's been Decades since the last time I received an award, Thank you Lord for this.”, he stated, “Thank you so so much to the wonderful people who got me to be part of the movie thank you po @attyjoji @direk_chris_martinez na nakasama po ako sa movie ng HERE COMES THE GROOM sobrang thank you po!!! and thank you also to all the great cast members Enchong, Gladys, Ate Uge, Kuya Kim, KKaren, Maris, Iya Mina, Xilhou, Awra, Fino and Nico. Thank you to PatAcris the entire Staff, Crew and the whole Production.”

In 2015, he won Best Single Performance by an Actor in the 13th Gawad Tanglaw for his impeccable performance in the Eat Bulaga Lenten Presentation titled "Kulungan Kanlungan."
On his post, Keempee received congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities including Piolo Pascual, Underage actress Sunshine Cruz, and Sparkle leading man EA Guzman.
