Liza Soberano brought pride to the Philippines by joining the jury for the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary at the Venice Film Festival.
Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano has added to her growing achievements by serving as a juror for the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary at the Venice Film Festival, as reported by Variety.
According to Variety, the prize (created by the Golden Globes and Artemis Rising Foundation alongside Think-Film Impact Production) celebrates a documentary from the festival's official lineup that uses powerful storytelling to illuminate critical social issues.
Speaking to the said entertainment publication, she highlighted the transformative power of film, emphasizing its unique capacity to inspire audiences and offer hope.
“I've always believed that film has the power to do more than entertain — it can challenge injustice, offer safety, inspire hope and remind us of our shared humanity,” Liza shared.
She further stressed the significance of documentary filmmaking, describing it as both a “courageous” and “unforgettable” medium for narrative storytelling.
“Documentary filmmaking is where some of the most courageous and unforgettable storytelling is happening today,” she added.
Marking her role on the jury, Liza also underscored the importance of recognizing exceptional talent and driving artistic excellence across the film industry.
“I'm honored to serve on this jury, because celebrating documentary filmmakers isn't only about recognizing extraordinary talent; it's where the future of cinema is heading,” the actress expressed.
Liza serves alongside prominent figures like Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne, Artemis Rising Foundation founder Regina K. Scully, Impact Founders co-counder Geralyn White Dreyfous, and Think-Film Impact Production CEO Danielle Turkov Wilson.
The winning film will be awarded $10,000, funded by the Artemis Rising Foundation, during the 83rd edition of the festival from September 2 to 12.
In addition to her festival duties, Liza stars alongside H.E.R. in the upcoming animated film Forgotten Island, voicing childhood best friends Raissa and Jo.
The film also features a star-studded cast, including Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng. It is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on September 23.
