LVMH, parent company of Louis Vuitton, orders 40 million masks for France
The luxury conglomerate, LVMH, commits to making another generous donation to its home country France.
To appease the shortage in surgical masks that their country is facing, LVMH announced on March 21 that they have ordered a total of 40 million masks from a Chinese supplier. The face masks will be of great help to the French people in other to protect themselves against the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement released by LVMH on their website, the company said:
“By virtue of its global distribution network, LVMH has managed to secure an order with a Chinese industrial supplier for a delivery of 10 million masks in France in the coming days [seven million surgical masks and three million FFP2 masks]. The order will be repeated for at least four weeks in similar quantities [ie approximately 40 million masks].”
Chairman and CEO of LVMH Bernard Arnault had reportedly arranged for the company to finance the whole first week of deliveries, amounting to five million euros, in order to secure the order and ensure that production will begin right away.
The French government will fund the rest of the orders.

LVMH had also recently repurposed its Perfumes & Cosmetics production facilities--usually used to manufacture Christian Dior, Guerlain, and Givenchy perfumes--to create the much-needed supply of hydroalcoholic gels or hand sanitizers.
