Mikael Daez on working with Marian: “It feels good!”

Maganda ang umpisa ng taon ni Mikael Daez dahil hindi pa man tapos ang unang quarter ng taon ay siya na ang napiling leading man ni Marian Rivera in not one but two upcoming shows dito sa GMA, ang Spooky Nights presents Bampirella na magsisimula na ngayong Sabado, March 26, at ang pinakaaabangang epic serye ng GMA, ang Amaya. How does he feel about being chosen as Marian’s leading man for both shows? “It feels good!” says Mikael happily. ”I’m very excited. Alam ko na it’s a big, big opportunity, and it just so happened na I was offered the opportunity, and I wanna make the most out of it.” Kamusta naman ang kanyang working relationship with Marian? “Marian has been very supportive. I’ve spoken to her, I’ve hung out with her, and all the other actors and actresses I’ve seen and met, the crew, make-up artists, stylists, they’ve all been really nice and helped me and my confidence.” Ano naman ang kanyang pakiramdam na isang Marian Rivera ang kanyang unang leading lady sa kanyang mga projects this early on in his career? “Siyempre, I’m nervous. Anlaki ng role, I’m with Marian Rivera, sobrang sikat na niya, she’s amazing. She’s an amazing actress. So there’s a lot of pressure, but at the same time, exciting,” paglalahad niya. “So masaya ako because people around me are helping me cope with the pressure and are teaching me, and I’m learning and I’m very willing to step up my game and try to be the best that I can be. Go for it, go for the gold, go na!” Hindi ba siya nahihirapan because his two projects with Marian are very different from each other, one being a light comedy and one being a heavy epic serye? “Actually, naisip ko rin yun. Sabi ko, ‘Grabe, comedy tapos super drama! Ba’t ganun?’Pero like I said, si Marian ang ano nun, she’s the one who helped me with that. Sabi niya sa’kin, ‘Alam mo Mik, huwag kang mag-alala sa Spooky Mo. Just have fun. Fun lang talaga yan, as in kung makakapanood ka ng mga comedy shows, ganun lang talaga. You’re having fun, being yourself, in character.’ And tama siya, ganun lang talaga,” kuwento niya. Ineenjoy naman ni Mikael ang bawat pagkakataon that he spends on set. “Super fun on the set, and yung mga scenes, lokohan-lokohan lang. and it’s a good start kasi nabe-break in ako. Nasasanay ako sa schedule, yung sa pacing, sa mga kailangang gawin, sa kailangang alalahanin, so sobrang thankful ako na nauna yung Spooky Mo bago yung Amaya kasi yung Amaya, yun seryoso na. yun yung time na talaga yun. So in terms of working on both projects that are very different, nakatulong sa’kin imbes na nakahadlang sa career ko.” Abangan ang pagsisimula ng Ang Spooky Mo presents Bampirella ngayong Sabado, March 26, dito lamang sa GMA.
