Get to know Jamie Aquino, the deaf tour guide that teaches Philippines history to hearing-impaired tourists, here!

Persons with disabilities (PWDs) aren't always first in mind when it comes to travel and tourism. To this day, there are many obstacles that hinder them from fully appreciating the places they're visiting.

Lack of proper facilities or visual and hearing aids for tourists with disabilities can easily dissuade them from learning more about the Philippines.

One such organization aiming to make the tourism industry better for the hearing-impaired is the DEAFinite Tour Guiding Services (DTGS).

They are a professional organization consisting of deaf community tour guides accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT). The DTGS's goal is to make Metro Manila accessible for deaf tourists all over the world.

Jamie Aquino, DTGS's president and an accredited deaf tour guide, aims to share the history of the Philippines to hearing-impaired tourists.

Not only does DTGS and DOT make tourism accessible for deaf tourists, but they also provide employment opportunities for deaf Filipinos.
