EXCLUSIVE: Gil Cuerva gives tips for newbie travelers
Filipino-Spanish actor Gil Cuerva is a traveler and adrenaline junkie. When he’s not busy taping for shows, he makes it a point to travel and check items off his bucket list. “I recently just traveled to Japan. I love Japan.”
He continued that aside from new sights, gaining new experiences and knowledge is a must for every trip. “I love traveling, I feel like traveling is very educational in the sense na marami kang matututunan sa kultura, pati na rin sa mga tao sa ibang bansa. It really helps broaden your horizon.”
He may be spontaneous but he makes sure his trips are well-planned but fun, and he has a few tips for newbie travelers to make their vacations hassle-free.
He said, “For every country I go to, there’s an itinerary and a purpose, so sa Japan nagsuot din ako ng kimono, I tried Japanese food. I went to certain places. I just make it a point to experience new things. I make sure that whatever country I go to, may bagong experience.”
Another tip he has is familiarizing yourself with another country’s customs and culture. “Japan is a very well-mannered country and respect is an important thing for them.”
“Every time I’m traveling, ang nasa isip ko is am I being a responsible tourist? Itong ginagawa ko ba, is it being frowned upon? Am I being too loud or impolite? Ganun. I always bear in mind [these things] na whatever country I’m traveling to.”
Most importantly, Gil advices travelers to embrace the experience of being in a new place and enjoy every moment. “It’s the experience talaga, that’s the thing I look forward to the most kapag nagta-travel ako.”
