Love
According to Jewel Mische, "Many years ago, I told myself I would not 'fall in love' unless God flat out told me he was the one I was going to spend forever with. I did not want to keep wasting my time and pouring my heart out."
Prayer
Jewel Mische mentioned that she prayed for a husband before she met Alister Kurzer.
"I intentionally began praying for my husband while my focus was ministry. I remember talking to the Lord & telling Him, if my husband doesn't want to serve You with me, I would rather stay single and serve You by myself and I wasn't joking. In fact it really came to a point I was set on being single for the rest of my life. About a year after, my husband and I crossed paths and the rest is history!"
Learnings
The former actress shared her insights on love and faith.
"It's not silly to pray for your future spouse. And it's definitely not silly to decide you're going to be single forever and then God change the plan!!! He showed up for me in ways I could not have dreamed of and He gave me what I truly needed -someone who has a heart set on winning souls, being a light, and pursuing after HIM with me."
Message
Many of Jewel Mische's posts show her love for her husband. In one post, she wrote, "@Alister.Kurzer, my love, it's been such an honor to serve and to do life with you!! Thank you!"
Courtship
In her 2020 post, Jewel Mische discussed their courtship, revealing that they didn't kiss or cuddle.
"Courting was so KILIG & fun but HARD! We didn't kiss, cuddle, lay together.. or anything else. We barely hugged & we talked about everything. We waited 2 years & 2 months with half of those years being long distance. Was it easy at times, no, because human flesh likes to deceive us. I had to be reminded many times of the bigger picture."
Communication
Jewel Mische reflected on what she learned during their courtship. She said, "Not being physical forced us to develop emotionally. It forced us to communicate. And because our visions weren't clouded by sin & sex, we could really see each other's flaws."
Single
Jewel Mische shared that they looked forward to living single lives before they met.
"Alister was finally focused on His first love #Jesus and was going to be single for five years...... I was the same ..except .. I was going to be single for the rest of my life when him and I “accidentally” met."
Commitment
Jewel Mische enjoys sharing realizations and lessons about married life.
"Marriage is hard.. it just is! Anyone says it isn't, don't trust them! The best advice I've ever received is “be the partner you would want, first.” AND “If you had to pick the perfect spouse for your husband, would it be you??” This one brings tears to my eyes. ----God's institution of marriage will only work with God's kind of love and God's kind of love is unconditional. That means it gives 100% even when your spouse gives 0% ---- It's a commitment - a choice, every day to love and serve this amazing man. He is such a gift to me, exactly the way he is."
Honoring
Jewel Mische also wrote about how she is navigating married life with Alister Kurzer.
She said, "I'm learning the importance of not trying to change him, but how much I can learn from him. The beauty in honoring his differences, discovering his strengths as I learn to accept the way he communicates, the way he loves, the way he thinks things through. We speak different love languages but man do we both love each other and Jesus so much and that will never change even when we don't agree on everything."
10 years
Jewel Mische has been happily married to Alister Kurzer for 10 years. She said, "Anybody can get a ring. I didn't just want a ring on my finger, I wanted a marriage with purpose. #Year10andstronger"
