GMA Artist Center talent Athena Madrid learned a lot of lessons while going through the pandemic in terms of using her hard-earned money in showbiz.

GMANetwork.com got the chance to chat with the Kapuso beauty during the online Zoomustahan event organized by the GMA Social Media Team this afternoon, October 28.

Athena admitted to GMANetwork.com that she used to buy expensive bags with her earnings as a model before.

She shared, “Siyempre ako ngayon, sobrang layo ko nung age ko sa before. Ako kasi, dati kumikita ako sa pictorial ko, since nag-start ako ng modeling.”

The actress continued, “Gusto ko lagi ako, after ko makuha 'yung suweldo ko kailangan lagi ko nabibili agad 'yung mga bagay na gusto ko bilhin, like 'yung collection ko kasi are designer bags. So, kailangan nakikita ko 'yung mga pinaghihirapan ko dun.”

Now, the youngest sister of Ruru Madrid has learned to value her money even more and chooses to spend it to help her family with their day-to-day needs.

Athena explained, “Pero ngayon, kasi sobrang unti-unti kong nare-realize na hindi naman kailangan 'yun lalo na ngayong pandemic. So binibigay ko lang siya sa parents ko, para nakakatulong din ako pambili namin [ng] mas importanteng bagay like vitamins, groceries 'di ba? Doon ko na lang nilalagay lahat ng kinikita ko ngayon and ang sarap din sa feeling, kasi alam ko nakakatulong ako sa parents ko.”

Aside from seeing her every night on GMA Telebabad as Grace in To Have And To Hold, she's also now preoccupied growing her own business, which was inspired by her collection of expensive bags.

“Meron akong business kasi, Athena's Restoration, so since mahilig ako sa mga branded bags 'yung mahihilig din sa branded bags, like kunwari nasisira 'yung mga bags nila, puwede nila dalhin sa akin 'yun para maayos. So gusto ko sana mas palakihin pa.”

Athena joined the seventh season of StarStruck in 2019, which was won by Kim de Leon and Shayne Sava.
