Half-Pinoy footballer David Alaba is Real Madrid's latest signing
Austrian footballer David Alaba has joined Spanish football giant Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Real Madrid announced on May 28, 2021 that it has reached a free-transfer agreement with David's former club, Bayern Munich.
The defender signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid and will officially join the club after the UEFA Euro 2020.
"I leave a special club for another special club. I am really happy and honored to join Real Madrid. After so many years in Munich I will face a new challenge and I will give my best to continue the club's special history," David wrote on Twitter.
"I can't wait to play my first match in the iconic white jerseys in front of all you fans in Madrid. I'm sure that this journey will be a successful one. Together with all madridistas. VAMOS!" he added.
Before he left Bayern Munich, he has won the top domestic league Bundesliga with them for the 10th time. He has also won two Champions League trophies with the German club.

David was born in Vienna, Austria to a Nigerian father and to a Filipina mother.
His father George moved to Vienna to study Economics and went on to become the first black guard soldier in the Austrian army.
Meanwhile, his mother Gina, moved to the country to work as a nurse. She was also a beauty queen in the Philippines in the '80s.
David also has a sister named Rose May who is a successful recording artist in Austria.
Due to his roots, he was eligible to play for the national football teams of Nigeria, the Philippines, and Austria.
David's father George revealed that the Philippines' football association wrote to the athlete twice in a bid to get him to play for the national team, fondly called the Azkals.
Ultimately, David chose to represent the Austria national football team as he was born and raised in Vienna and already has a few friends on the team.
However, he still constantly pays tribute to his roots as he has images of the Austrian, Philippine, and Nigerian flags on his football boots.
David is also part of Austria's squad which will compete in UEFA Euro 2020.
