
The word 'Ostrich' became the top trending topic on Twitter Philippines after two ostriches were caught on camera running around a subdivision in Quezon City on August 5.
After the video went viral, singer-songwriter Rico Blanco shared an artwork he made 15 years ago that showed an ostrich walking around the city.
“When I painted this 15 years ago, I was simply going for 'surreal,'” he wrote in his Instagram post.
“Times have changed.”

On August 8, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) spokesperson Undersecretary Benny Antiporda confirmed to DZBB that one of the ostriches has died because of stress.

The other ostrich was voluntarily turned over to DENR and is now at the Biodiversity Management Bureau rescue center.
After the ostriches were caught on camera, other animals also appeared in other parts of the country.
A pig ran loose in Cebu while a cow was seen in Iloilo. A peafowl was also found on top of a gate in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
