Early morning of March 9. President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the executive order declaring a public health emergency due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the country. Meanwhile, the mayors in Quezon City and Marikina have also announced that there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their respective cities.

The hashtag “Distrcict 1” trended when Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte announced during their flag ceremony this morning that the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is from district 1.
