While in Europe, Jinri grabbed the opportunity to show off her Brazilian Jiu-jitsu skills and competed in the London Open.

My Korean Jagiya star, Jinri Park is currently in London for her annual trip to Europe. While there, she grabbed the opportunity to show off her Brazilian Jiu-jitsu skills and competed in the London Open. Despite having just earned her blue belt and competing in a foreign country, Jinri finished London Open in second place.

In an Instagram post, Jinri detailed her experience of the competition.

4months ago I received my blue belt from my professors at @atosjjphilippines and I promised one of my coaches that I will compete one last time before this year ends. Honestly I hate competing so much but like I said before you sometimes have to do things that scares you. Of all the competitions left before this year ends, I chose London Open, because of my yearly trip to Europe. It was my first time without anyone I know traveling to a distant country to compete. Thanks to professor @ggalvaobjj and @ginacontelgalvao for being there for me today???? Honestly you guys helped me a lot and I'm so thankful for everything ???? Of course to my awesome team back home who kills me in training everyday, my @ultimatefitnessmetrowalk @subsportph family @atosphwolfpack and jjlog crew along with coach Jan and all my training partners, professors @alisulitjiujitsu Ralph and Hansel for guiding us in everything, my family back at @jiujitsumanila Coach Carlo @meggie_ochoa and my teammates THANK YOU ALL. I have so much people I'd like to thank individually but let me do that in person! And of course to God, for every blessing he has poured upon me in my life. Well not bad for a first time blue belt I say, don't you? I'll definitely come back stronger next time, you'll see ?????????Lastly thank you to my sponsor @kingzkimonos for my amazing gi ???? #atosbjj #jiujitsu #bjj #londonfallopen

She then thanked everyone that made her stronger at her sport and promised to return again at the London Open.

According to Jinri, "I have so much people I'd like to thank individually but let me do that in person! And of course to God, for every blessing he has poured upon me in my life. Well not bad for a first time blue belt I say, don't you? I'll definitely come back stronger next time, you'll see."

In a follow-up post, however, Jinri admitted that despite her second place win, she still dislikes losing.

"Losing is never fun. Yes, losing can drive you to do better and work on your mistakes but I personally am the type that can't get over a loss too quickly. I'm a very negative person so I only look at all my mistakes. It takes a lot of time, mental, and emotional control for me to get over my mistakes and the 'could haves.' I despise competing but still do it for growth. I hope and wish one day I'll enjoy competing. For now I just gotta suck it up accept my loss and keep moving forward. Back to training cause next time I'll get that gold," said she.

Daebak, Jinri!
