Ion Perez confirms withdrawal from 2025 polls

It's Showtime host Ion Perez, or Benigno Dungo Perez in real life, announced on Monday evening (November 4) that he is no longer running for the position of councilor in Concepcion, Tarlac in next year's mid-term elections.

In a short video on Facebook, the partner of Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda talked about his reasons why he's backing out of the 2025 polls.

Several celebrities are running as councilors in the 2025 elections to get a seat or win another term in various cities and municipalities in the country.

Among them are Aiko Melendez and Pulang Araw actress Angelu de Leon, who are seeking their second term as city councilors in Quezon City and Pasig City, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ion's It's Showtime co-host Jhong Hilario is on his last term as councilor in Makati City.

Vice Ganda got engaged to Ion Perez in early 2020 and the following year they held a wedding commitment ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada.
