IN PHOTOS: Gabbi Garcia initiates community pantry in Parañaque
Kapuso Global Endorser Gabbi Garcia used her influence for a good cause as she initiated a community pantry in a housing complex in Parañaque City.
Inspired by the Maginhawa community pantry, which Ana Patricia Non started, this humanitarian initiative aims to provide people within a community with essential needs, especially food, to survive through the day.
Through the help of her parents and donors, Gabbi was able to mount her own community pantry, voluntarily giving aid not just to their neighbors but also to non-medical frontliners who work in the vicinity like security guards, construction workers, and delivery workers. Not to mention, it comes with free ice cream, too, to cool them down this summer.
"Thank you to our small community for making this possible! Thank you also to everyone who stopped by to drop their donations. May God Bless you more!
"To all the community pantries, SALAMAT SAINYO!!! Keep going! God bless your pure hearts! Tayo-tayo ang magtulungan," Gabbi shared in her Instagram account.
In her own little way, Gabbi hopes to inspire to do the same amid the current COVID-19 situation.
Signage
Gabbi and her team encourage others to donate and their donees to get only what they need for the day by putting up signages with words "Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan, kumuha batay sa pangangailangan."
Food
Some of the items Gabbi hands over to their donees are packs of rice, fresh vegetables, water, canned goods, and instant noodles.
Frontliners
Gabbi expressed her thanks to non-medical frontliners like delivery riders, security guards, and construction workers by giving out free vegetables.
