Beauty queens step up as COVID-19 relief demand surges
Filipinos are increasingly feeling the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, both on their everyday lives and their financial well-being. As a result, many personalities and celebrities have extended a helping hand to those people who were adversely affected by the pandemic.
And to once more prove that they are empowering beauty with a purpose, Pinay beauty queens have also stepped up as COVID-19 relief demand surges.

Miss World 2013 Megan Young launched an online fundraising drive for the benefit of medical frontliners in provincial hospitals.
Winwyn Marquez
In order to help protect the lives of frontliners against the deadly COVID-19 disease, Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez started an online fundraising campaign dubbed as “Go Get Funding FIGHT COVID-19 SUPPLIES” for the modern day heroes' protective equipment supplies.
Pia Wurtzbach
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach shows that she is truly confidently beautiful with a heart as she continuously distributes face masks and face shields to frontliners. The fund used for procuring the healthcare items were from her donation drive.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has raised raise PhP 1 million for the families residing in Smokey Mountain, Tondo, Manila. She recently launched a “No Work No Rice” campaign catered to support COVID-19-hit daily wage earners.

Filipina professional volleyball player and Miss Globe Philippines 2018 Michele Gumabao spearheaded a donation drive called “Your 200 pesos,” which aims to raise funds for Metro Manila residents who were greatly affected by the pandemic.
