Carla Abellana was in for an early Halloween treat when she attended the Philippine Animal Welfare Society’s (PAWS) 11th Scaredy Cats and Dogs event last October 26.

Carla Abellana was in for an early Halloween treat when she attended the Philippine Animal Welfare Society’s (PAWS) 11th Scaredy Cats and Dogs event last October 26.
One of her posts read, “Extremely grateful to judge @pawsphilippines ' Scaredy Cats and Dogs again. It's PAWS' most-awaited fund-raising event every year and this year was just as successful. Boy was it tough to judge! It always is! People along with their fur babies really step up every year!”
Host and eventologist Tim Yap and Carla’s leading man Tom Rodriguez also joined the event as her fellow judges.
It was definitely a taxing job for them selecting among the charming cats and dogs, and also their equally striking companions.
Among her favorite contestants include a group of golden retrievers dressed up as Justice League. They were animals with advocacies.
She emphasized on her post, “No To Crush Videos (videos of people crushing pets to death) No To Dog Meat Trade (please don't eat dogs) No To Puppy Mills (rampant abroad) Report and Testify (Animal Cruelty) Yes To Spay and Neuter Leave No Pet Behind/Abandonment No To Dog Fighting (tigilan na yang paulit-ulit sa laguna at cavite) No To Dolphin/Whale/Sealion Shows No To Animal Neglect.”
Aside from the super heroes, a villain also captured Carla’s attention.
She also shared a photo of an aspin adopted from the Mandaluyong pound. It actually bagged the Best Native Dog in Costume award.
She said, “Sana more and more Filipinos will open their hearts and their homes to adopting instead of shopping.”
In the end, Carla’s bet won the contest.
She quipped, “Come on, where else can you see an English bulldog dressed as a duck, huh?!? Adorbs!!!”
