Miss Universe PH Michelle Dee is a Gold Winner for the Voice for Change competition
Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee has previously declared that autism awareness is her lifelong advocacy and it looks like the Miss Universe selection committee has felt her passion as well.
Michelle was one of the three Gold winners in the pageant's Voice for Change competition, along with the delegates from Angola and Puerto Rico.
Michelle and Miss Angola Ana Coimbra and Miss Puerto Rico Karla Acevedo won over Brazil's Maria Brechane, Chile's Celeste Viel, Lebanon's Maya Abou El Hosn, Singapore's Priyanka Annuncia, South Africa's Bryoni Govender, Ukraine's Angelina Usanova, and Zimbabwe's Brooke Bruk-Jackson.
Michelle's autism advocacy was the centerpiece of her Voice for Change video where she talked about the Autism Society of the Philippines' (ASP) Autism Works program that includes career development programs, support systems, and life coaching for its beneficiaries. The ASP Autism Works program has already helped people on the autism spectrum get more than 250 positions in 53 enterprises across 10 provinces and in different industries.
Michelle had previously made it as a Silver finalist for the Voice for Change competition, Previously, Michelle shared she felt good about her performance during her closed-door interview , where she hoped that the “most important aspects” of her individuality was “well received and understood by the judges.”
Michelle has also been spending time getting to know her fellow delegates, even as early as the sash ceremony where she shared photos of her with other candidates at the InterContinental San Salvador-Metrocentro Mall in El Salvador.
