R'Bonney Gabriel amuses netizens by packing balikbayan boxes for Miss Universe
With just a week left before the coronation for this year's Miss Universe pageant, all the related personalities are heading to the pageant's site in El Salvador, with one of them being current reigning Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel. This time around, R'Bonney brought with her something distinctly Filipino - the balikbayan box.
In a post on her Instagram account, R'Bonney posted several photos of her at the airport headed to El Salvador wearing a purple outfit and with a cart full of luggage. In the caption to the post, R'Bonney joked about the amount of her luggage, but what quickly stood out to netizens - especially Filipinos - were the balikbayan boxes she had with her.
Filipino personalities and ordinary netizens immediately talked about the balikbayan box in the comment section. Celebrities include fellow beauty queen Katrina Dimaranan, reporter Gretchen Fullido, designer Veejay Floresca, and Miss Universe Philippines director of communication Voltaire Tayag.
R'Bonney had already been to El Salvador this year pre-filming for the upcoming coronation night.
In a post on her Instagram account, R'Bonney asked her fans and Instagram followers who they think will be the queen to follow after her.
One queens who may just follow R'Bonney is current reigning Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee. In a recent interview, the Kapuso star revealed that she is putting in “200 percent” in her training to win the crown.
“I'm giving it everything that I have, 200 percent of myself I am dedicating to my crown. Nililigawan ko talaga yung pang-limang korona,” she shared during a contract signing with Autism Society Philippines. “I'm really training everyday when my schedule permits. I've been working on different aspects of my campaign just to make sure that when I fly to El Salvador, 100 percent ready.”
Michelle already teased her preparations for the pageant last September in an interview with Unang Balita. In the interview, she shared her excitement for the Miss Universe coronation night and how the Miss Universe Philippines team are polishing her performance for the pageant.
“Sabihin nating perfect na, mas kaya pang i-perfect. Obviously, I have so much trust in my team, I have much trust in the organization,” she said. “We all know I love giving a show and I love looking the part as well, so abangan niyo talaga.”
