Gloc-9 turns to YouTube during the pandemic

By Kristian Eric Javier
From 5,000 subscribers before the pandemic, Gloc-9 is now close to 1 million followers on his YouTube channel.

It's no surprise that rap icon Gloc-9 has many fans follow him on social media, listening to his songs and even singing them to their heart's content.

However, unlike other celebrities who have started their own YouTube channel, the "Upuan" rapper, revealed that he only had 5,000 subscribers before the pandemic.

In a pocket interview on Monday, November 14, Gloc-9 said that during the pandemic, he decided to focus on his YouTube channel as a way to showcase his creativity.

“Nung mag start yung pandemic, nag-decide ako mag-focus sa aking YouTube channel. Five thousand lang ata subscribers ako nun. And then, nag-focus ako dun,” he said.

At the same time, Gloc-9 studied how he can record on his own and started writing new music.

“May mga kantang talagang natitisod ko na, 'Uy! Ok to, a," he said.

Since you can't do anything wrong on YouTube, Gloc-9 said he was able to create what he calls Vendo machine songs, which he used as contents in his channel.

Since then, the rapper saw a massive growth on his YouTube channel.

"Siguro mga 13,000 o 15,000 na lang kulang ko, one million subscribers na,” he related.

This just shows that anyone can find a way to overcome any challenges. In the case of a music artist like Gloc-9, music creation and performances suddenly changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In connection, the music icon shared this lesson in the end: “Ang pako, pag pinukpok mo, siguradong lulubog yan. I think yun lang naman ang lesson natin. Imposibleng hindi ka gagaling dahil pag hindi ka gumaling, tapos na ang laban.

Watch for Gloc-9 and Greyhoundz at the "Rock for Charity" concert on December 9 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. Both artists will be celebrating their 25th year and were tapped to do the concert.
