Dave Bautista adopts abused dog; offers reward money to catch abuser
Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista made hearts melt recently as he adopted an abused dog, previously named Sage.
In his first post about Sage, the Filipino-American actor showed graphic photos of the puppy's wounds caused by the collar getting deeply embedded on her neck.
He captioned it: “I will personally hand 5000 dollars cash to the person who gives information leading to the arrest and conviction of the sick piece of sh*t responsible for this. In addition @humanesocietytampabay is also offering $1500 .If you know anything please contact @humanesocietytampabay or @safek9.”
A few days later, Dave, who was previously known as Batista during his wrestling career, gave an update on Sage through an IG video.
He said that although the reward money has now reached $11,500, they still haven't gotten any solid leads about Sage's abuser.
But the good news is that he has legally adopted the puppy and introduced her to his followers in the most adorable way.
“The puppy you know as Sage actually became Penny Batista. So, I'd like to introduce to you the newest member of my family. Oh, and there she is, healing up nice and recovered,” he shared.
“She is now a Batista and she will never be abused again a day in her life, not a second in her life. She's about to live her best puppy life ever. So, thank you, guys, for helping us out. And that's the update. Sage is now Penny Batista and she has a forever home,” Dave added.
As the video was about to fade to black, Dave also shouted, “Adopt! Don't Shop.”
Penny is a three-month-old puppy that was rescued after being spotted eating garbage by a good Samaritan.
She was named after the iconic character Penny Lane from the film Almost Famous, who was portrayed by Kate Hudson.
So, her full name is actually Penny Lane Bautista and she will join two other rescued dogs of Dave in their loving family.
Thank you, Dave, for giving Penny a forever home. You're truly a hero on and off cam. Good job, Sir.
