Scribd offers free access to millions of books amid coronavirus pandemic
The enhanced community quarantine implemented in the whole of Luzon left many Filipinos caged in their homes with a lot of time and little things to do. And while watching movies or taking free online courses sounds like a great idea, there are some who find solace in reading.

Scribd, an American e-book and audiobook subscription service, announced on March 18 that its digital library will be free to access for a month in light of the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
“Today, with millions of people around the globe staying close to home to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, access to books and information is more important than ever before,” said Trip Adler, the founder & CEO of Scribd.
Adler clarified that the library is open for 30 days, which means unlimited access will expire on April 17, without “credit card or commitment requirement.”
“So, for the next month, we will be making Scribd's library -- which includes millions of ebooks, audiobooks, magazine articles, and more -- available to anyone, free, for 30 days.
“Our goal is simply to ensure everyone has access to their favorite books, authors, and quality content as we settle into our new normal for the next few weeks.”
He also said in a letter he wrote on March 17 that Scribd believes reading can help uplift the spirits of everyone in this time of health crisis.
“At Scribd, we believe reading is the most powerful tool we have for connecting and sharing the human experience.
“Reading can offer incredible comfort: it reduces anxiety and makes us feel more accomplished and even happier.
