Where to get drive-thru COVID-19 testing in Manila

By Bianca Geli

The Medical City hospital, specifically the Ortigas, Pasig City branch, will be having a drive-thru COVID-19 testing facility. The announcement was made through the Medical City's official Facebook account.

It wrote: "TMC is proud to launch its COVID Drive-Thru Testing starting July 8, 2020.

"With this initiative, we hope to contribute to better diagnosis and treatment of COVID patients, as well as in bolstering our research and population data for controlling the COVID-19 pandemic."

According to The Medical City's official site, the Enhanced Chemiluminescence Immunoassay Antibody Test is the "first fully-automated COVID-19 antibody test globally certified by the US and Philippines FDA."

It has 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity; more reliable than rapid testing.

Furthermore, the test requires only a blood sample, no preparations, or fasting needed with test results available within 24 hours.

Who should take the test

According to The Medical City's Facebook advisory, an individual may take the test "if you have reason to believe that you've been exposed to the coronavirus (even if you are asymptomatic) or if you need health clearance for work or travel."

The drive-thru center is open Mondays to Sundays from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) in Ortigas, Pasig.

Pre-booking is encouraged to avoid long lines.

Also, through the efforts of the city of Taguig, another drive-thru testing was launched in Bonifacio Global City last April.
