Hayden Kho opens up about his journey through depression and suicide
Hayden Kho detailed his personal demons and how he won over them to reach out to people who may be undergoing depression and suicidal tendencies.
In a video uploaded by Pastor Peter Tan-Chi of Christ's Commission Fellowship, Hayden looked back at what led him to despair.
He said, “I entered show business and then I became popular. Money was easy. All those things entered, women, alcohol, and then I got into drugs.
“I had an issue with God,” the celebrity doctor also claimed, sharing he was molested twice when he was a child.
According to Hayden, he created an image that would earn people's favor but he later recognized it was not his true self. That feeling of “not being loved, not feeling known, not being seen” caused him to sink into depression.
He admitted, “At the end of the day, all those experiences when you're alone in bed at night, you think 'What a miserable life I have.'”
Eventually, darker thoughts entered his mind, and for two instances, he considered committing suicide.
He said, “And then you kinda fall in love with the idea that 'I am sad and I am a victim,' and you know, I can just opt out.”
What saved Hayden, according to his testimonies, was when he met Christ that led him to stop thinking about himself. He also mentioned the power of the mind, the heart, and the hands in his successful journey through this challenging episode in his life.
Hayden also advised people who are experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts to keep their faith, join a nurturing community, and spend time in prayer and worship.
