Positive distraction, effective way to deal with anxiety - psychologist

Ayon sa isang psychologist, ang "positive distraction" ay isang epektibong paraan upang labanan ang anxiety ngayong panahon ng COVID-19.

Hindi lang mga ordinaryong mamamayan ang nakararanas ng anxiety sa panahon ng pandemic dahil pati mga celebrities ay nakararamdam din ng pagkabalisa at lungkot na dulot ng kasalukuyang krisis.

Kabilang na riyan sina Descendants of the Sun star Jasmine Curtis-Smith, singer-actress Rita Daniela at beauty queen turned actress Thia Tomalla.

“I have my mornings na umiiyak ako or I feel so uncertain kasi paano nga ba 'to? What if 'yung TV and film industry or at least the acting department of that industry becomes minimized,” sabi ni Jasmine.

Minsan na rin umanong kinuwestiyon ni Rita ang kanyang purpose sa gitna ng mga nagaganap ngayon.

“Parang nakakalugmok siya na pakiramdam na feeling natin minsan parang wala na tayong worth or useless na. I think that's normal.

“Hindi lang naman tayo, for sure maraming tao ang nakakaramdam no'n pero ang isang sagot lang do'n if nafi-feel natin na gano'n tayo, the only answer is just talk to God and go to Him,” dagdag ng actress/host.

Ibinahagi naman ni Thia na dapat niyang lawakan ang kanyang pananaw, lalo na ngayong may banta ng COVID-19 sa bansa.

“The first three days siguro I didn't know what to do. I felt very lost and ang daming iniisip, nag-o-overthink ka na. And then I realized hindi 'to matatapos agad-agad so we need to do something.

“I realized it's my responsibility on how I deal with things and how I react to things,” aniya.

Samantala, ayon kay Dr. Maria Caridad Tarroja, isang psychologist, normal ang makaramdam ng pag-aalala, lalo na sa panahon ng pandemic.

Ayos lamang umano na i-acknowledge ang ganitong pakiramdam ngunit hindi na tama kung buong araw pahihirapan ang sarili sa pag-iisip ng mga problema.

Kaya payo ng mga eksperto para maiwasan ang matinding anxiety, subukan ang tinatawag na Positive Distraction.

“People need to discover new ways of doing things na medyo kakaiba sa dati nilang ginagawa. Some people say exercising, yoga work for them. But other people will have different ways of finding their distraction. Whatever works for you is okay,” pahayag ni Dr. Tarroja.
