The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unpredictable rollercoaster ride for many, especially those whose jobs and businesses have been severely affected. Many non-essential industries and businesses were forced to shut down, leaving thousands--if not millions--of people jobless worldwide.
But as the old saying goes, there's opportunity in every crisis, and it's totally up to us to turn challenges into breakthroughs.
This is exactly what some food entrepreneurs did during the pandemic. Some of them either suddenly found themselves unemployed and looking for a new source of income or just plain thinking of ways to revitalize their food businesses. And luckily, by using their business-savvy and dash of creativity, they struck gold by putting up a food business on wheels.

Eggluck is a food jeep that serves Korean egg sandwiches and tours around Ilocos Norte. It was established on May 2, 2021 by 29-year-old former flight attendant Angel Luck Pedro, whose four-year career came to a screeching halt in May 2020 because of the pandemic. After four months, they already have more than 4,000 followers on Facebook.

The Coffee Mobile
The Coffee Mobile is a small mobile coffee bar roaming the streets of Cebu City. It was established in May 2020 and they now have more than 16,000 followers on Facebook. They take pride in championing “Philippine coffee street culture.” And instead of your usual manong or manang selling coffee on the streets, you'd see cool-looking tattooed guys in their motorcycles-turned-mobile coffee bars serving cold brew and espressos.

Iñigo Arellano found himself stuck in the Philippines when the COVID-19 pandemic happened. So, while here, he decided to put up mobile food businesses with Korean twists that he knows Filipinos will surely love. So, Iñigo together with his business partner Robert Karaan, established Chilog, which serves kimchilog, spamchilog, and porkchilog, and also Baddog!, which offers gourmet hotdogs.

If you're a sucker for Mexican food, we know a food truck in Quezon City that serves mouthwatering all-time favorites such as tacos and nachos. This must-try food truck is called MexiKanto, which is located at #30 Datsun St. cor. Pontiac St. in Fairview. Be on the lookout though, because they also roam the streets of QC. They were recently spotted in Holy Cross and Barangay Pasong Tamo areas.
