Dining out on the streets--literally.

Tables and chairs replaced cars on the streets of Makati City and Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig this weekend.

Portion of Rada and Leviste streets in Makati were turned into outdoor dining spaces with restaurants filling the roads with al fresco dining setup.

Makati did this first on Valentine's Day but many citizens requested that the city do this regularly.

“Due to popular demand, we're back for another round of #MakatiStreetMeetAtRada and #MakatiStreetMeetAtLeviste al fresco dining,” Make it Makati said in a post today, Sunday, February 28.

On the other hand, BGC announced yesterday that starting this weekend, the business district is closing a portion of 5th Avenue to give way to al fresco dining.

“Picture this: An open area where you can freely stroll, dine, and play without the distraction of cars passing by. The smell of fresh air and savory dishes from your favorite BGC restaurants filling your senses,” it said on the Instagram page of Bonifacio High Street.

BGC's “My Street High Street” is open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every weekend.

Both organizers of the weekend events said that they are strictly following the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases protocols for the safety of the guests.

Tables are spaced accordingly and guests are required to wear proper safety gears like face masks and face shields.
