It took Ichiran Ramen 20 years to develop this instant cup noodle
Japanese ramen shop, Ichiran Ramen, just released a teaser for an upcoming product, set to be released on February 15.
In its website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel, the restaurant chain released the first images and details of its new instant tonkotsu cup noodle.
According to the website, the restaurant chain took 20 years to develop this cup noodle.
The instant ramen is based on the ramen shop's popular tonkotsu ramen. Tonkotsu ramen is a pork bone marrow-based broth that is known for its milky and creamy appearance.
The new cup noodle contains noodles, two broth packets, and a special sauce packet.
According to Ichiran's website they tried to develop a broth that has the right combination of “mouthfeel and rich flavor.” While most instant noodles contain powder broth packets, Ichiran's new tonkotsu cup contains two packets--one powder and one liquid.
They said that the combination of both powder and liquid broths achieve the right flavor and texture for the ramen broth.

Ichiran is also known for its “secret sauce” and they tried to replicate that sauce in a more commercialized version. The sauce is exclusive to this cup noodle.
Ichiran will start selling this cup noodle at their stores and online store starting February 15. It is priced at JPY 490 or P223.
