Alice Dixson shares how she makes kombucha in new vlog
Actress Alice Dixson shared that she has been making her own kombucha since 2010.
Kombucha is a fermented, slightly alcoholic tea drink that supposedly has a lot of health benefits.
The drink has not been extensively studied so the health claims have yet to be proven, but it is said to be rich in antioxidants and probiotics.
Alice credits kombucha for curbing her consumption of sugary drinks like soda.
"Ito po ang nagpatanggal ng aking craving for soda. I highly, highly recommend this especially if you're overweight or diabetic. You won't feel the need or the urge to always have any kind of soft drinks. Mawawala po 'yun once you start drinking your own kombucha," she says in the beginning of her vlog.
Before he begins demonstrating making her kombucha, Alice reminds her viewers to sterilize your utensils and containers to make a safe batch of the drink.
She starts her demonstration by showing her SCOBY or symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast which is used in the fermentation of the kombucha.
Alice then mixes tea and sugar with some of the SCOBY in a jar then sets it in a cool and dark place to ferment.
She bottles the kombucha then adds fruits to aid the drink's second fermentation.
Alice is also giving away some of her SCOBY for free for those who want to make their own kombucha at home. All you have to do is comment your email address on her video.
