RECIPE: Make meringue in a microwave

With this recipe, you can make meringue using a microwave in three minutes.

This recipe for meringue can be completed in three minutes using a microwave.

Meringue is usually made by whipping egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks then baking in a oven.

Food vlogger Ddulgi shared a quick recipe on her YouTube account which does not require any whipping or baking.

"I made a sweet dessert microwave meringue cookie. It's done by 40 seconds in the microwave! It's a little more rough and light than meringue cookies. It's very similar to Karumeyaki (cinder toffee). It's a very good recipe that saves time and energy," she wrote on the description of the video.

Ingredients:

  • whites from one egg
  • 260 grams of powdered sugar
  • food coloring (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Combine egg whites and 260 grams of powdered sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add sugar in batches and knead until well combined.
  3. Add food coloring if desired.
  4. Split the dough into discs about as big as a table tennis ball.
  5. Place the dough on a microwave safe plate over a kitchen towel.
  6. Microwave each disc for 40 seconds.
