IN PHOTOS: King Badger's 'fat to fit' transformation
Ex Batallion member King Badger, also known as Jon Gutierrez in real life, made a shocking reveal on Instagram after he showcased his massive body transformation in a matter of five months.
The rapper-actor made sure to document his “fat to fit” journey on YouTube on Thursday, January 14, where he shared his tips on losing the extra pounds.
According to King Badger, one of the main reasons he started gaining weight was that he did not have the time to hit the gym.
As part of one of the most popular rap groups in the Philippines, his schedule revolved around gigs and tours.
After realizing that enough was enough, he then hired an at-home coach to help him attain his fitness goals and emphasized that his ex-wife, Jelai Andres, motivated him to work out.
Even though his feat was remarkable, King Badger stressed that he did not achieve his goals overnight.
He said, “Actually, mahirap siya. I was this close to giving up-- sobrang dami ko nang na-face na challenges in the middle of my fitness journey.
“I am still far from the body that I want, and I still want to be better in terms of fitness.
“Itong workout na fitness na 'to, na-realize ko na 'di mo kayang bilhin ang magkaroon ng fit na katawan. Kahit sobrang hirap nito I don't have any regrets.”
Take a look at his remarkable fitness transformation here:
Fat to Fit
King Badger started his fitness journey in August 2020 with the help of fitness coach Darell Gonzalez. In five months, Badger was able to lose the necessary fat by focusing first on his diet and then exercise.
Belly
Although he did not disclose his initial weight, King Badger shows photos of what he looked like pre-fitness journey, characterized by a protruded stomach.
Coach Darrell
In August, he consulted his fitness coach about the body that he wants to achieve. The expert was very frank about the process and told Badger immediately that it won't be an easy journey because he has to incorporate it into his lifestyle.
The program begins
By the first weeks of the program, Badger admits that he had difficulty working out because he was not used to doing it before. He cites, “Di ko na-realize how hard it is to work out and maintain a diet until na-try ko s'ya. But fortunately ang tiyaga sa akin ng coach ko ang pinadali niya sa akin ipaintindi kung paano ma-achieve 'yung body goals mo.”
Strength training
Coach Darrell first focused on training King Badger's muscles to get used to working out. That means a lot of strength training through the use of weights.
Leg muscles
One of the things that hindered Badger's road to fitness is his legs. According to the rapper, he has had an ACL or anterior cruciate ligament injury since 2017. With proper guidance, Badger strengthens his legs through different exercise movements and improves his muscle groups there.
First months progress
After the first month, King Badger can already see a difference in his overall body shape. He starts seeing cuts on his arms, and his belly is not as protruding as before.
The real work begins
Following his triumph in the first month, Badger and his coach continue with the program.
Small success
King Badger says that he's quite happy with the small achievements he could attain, including doing six push-ups and bench presses.
More training
King Badger and his coach move from their at-home workouts to proper training in the gym.
Hindrance
The rapper cites that one of the hindrances he experienced from achieving his goals is the opening of their food business. He says, “Sobrang daming oras na ginugol namin doon. Fortunately now, naayos na namin 'yun.”
Online
King Badger and his coach also engage in one-on-one online training where the latter guides the former via FaceTime.
Owe My Love
On top of working out, Badger had to create music, vlog contents, and join in the lock-in taping of the Kapuso series 'Owe My Love.'
Exercise continues
Badger even brought some of his exercise equipment while on set, so he can't miss any training days!
