Martin Javier finishes Tokyo Marathon 2025
Sparkle host Martin Javier took on an adrenaline-pumping challenge as he joined one of the world's biggest running events--the Tokyo Marathon 2025.
Flying all the way to Japan, Martin was all pumped up to experience the electrifying atmosphere alongside thousands of international participants. But what made it even more special? It was his first-ever marathon!
"Went through a lot just to get here," Martin shared on Instagram. "3 months ago, I was depressed, injured, and a month removed from running. I had to catch up with the training program with roughly 9 weeks out and absolutely 0 conditioning. That's a short time to prepare.. especially if you wanna fully send it. Still went along with it.. going from 0 mileage to 70km weeks."
Despite the setbacks, Martin pushed himself to the limit with proving his resilience and determination.
"Didn't have a clue where I was, conditioning-wise going into Tokyo, but I knew I needed to deliver. Almost didn't make it as well coz of the whole visa application change up. Grateful for a strong finish, despite the heavy self-talk at km 35 and cramps at 38km. Had to dig deep to survive that stretch," he shared.
The sportscaster described his Tokyo Marathon feat as "surreal," dedicating the achievement to his family and supporters.
Martin also gave fans a first-person view of the marathon through an Instagram reel, capturing moments of smiles, endurance, and hydration stops along the way. At the end of the video, he proudly received his gold medal for completing the race.
Martin wasn't the only celebrity to take on this prestigious race as fellow stars like Tim Yap, Isabelle Daza, and even multi-awarded singer Harry Styles were spotted running the streets of Tokyo as well.
