H&M
The H&M Group announced in their website and social media accounts that they are preparing their supply chain to produce personal protective equipment to be donated to hospitals and health care workers.
”The Coronavirus is dramatically affecting each and every one of us and we're like many other organisations, trying our best to help in this extraordinary situation. We see this as a first step in our efforts to support in any way we can. We're all in this together, and have to approach this as collectively as possible” says Anna Gedda, H&M Group's Head of Sustainability.
Balenciaga
Balenciaga, one of the fashion brands owned by fashion heavyweight Kering, will manufacture masks while conforming to the strictest health protection measures for their staff members.
Yves Saint Laurent/Saint Laurel Paris
Saint Laurent Paris is also another brand under the Kering Group set to produce face masks, as announced in their website.
Prada
The third brand from the Kering group who's stepping up to help in the Coronavirus pandemic crisis is Prada. The Prada Group aims to deliver a total of 80,000 medical overalls and 110,000 masks by April 6.
Gucci
The fourth brand from the Kering Group to make a significant donation is Gucci. It aims to donate 1 million surgical masks and 55,000 medical overalls to hospitals in Italy, its home country and one of the hardest hit by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Zara
The Inditex fashion group who owns Zara will reportedly make its factories and logistics teams available to the Spanish government to donate much-needed masks for patients and medical workers. Vogue writes that Inditex is looking into pivoting their textile-manufacturing capacity to the production of health materials, and that they're already in the process of sourcing medical grade fabric for hospital gowns.
Brandon Maxwell
Fashion designer Brandon Maxwell has pledged to help out with the shortage in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by manufacturing face masks, gowns, and gloves.
Christian Siriano
American fashion designer and winner of 'Project Runway' Season 4 Christian Siriano heeded the call of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for production of more PPE, including gloves, gowns, and masks.
