WATCH: Heart Evangelista admits difficulties dealing with Chiz Escudero's children before
For the second episode of 'Dear Heart,' Heart Evangelista gave advice about love and relationships in her YouTube channel.
Among her letter senders is a woman, whom the Kapuso star shares the experience of being in a relationship with a man who has children from a previous marriage.
According to Heart, the female letter sender is confused about how to position herself because there are children involved.
The 34-year-old actress suggested, "This is when it gets serious because there are other lives involved, it's not just the two of you.
"So you have to really make sure that you're alright with that.
"If you have 50 percent feelings in you that you're not okay with it, I suggest that you just end it.
"I know that's sad but it's just going to be very miserable and sad for you in the future and for the kids that are involved because you're not comfortable about it.
"But if you're fine with it, you really have to embrace it.
"Even if they don't stay with you, you have to embrace the idea that they're also going to be yours because they are an extension of the person you love.
"So you have to be unconditional and you can't have rules.
"It's just it won't work out."
Relating it to her own experience, Heart admitted that she had difficulties dealing with her husband Chiz Escudero's twins Chesi and Quino early on their relationship.
Heart recounted, "In the beginning, I remember I used to be so confused about it because I'm the youngest in my family and I wasn't used to hanging out with a lot of kids.
"So when I came into the picture, they were four years old.
"I really tried and I thought I could do it and I did.
She further shared, "I remember there's this moment where I had one eyeliner on and Chesi was being difficult and my hair was wet and I was doing her ponytail and she was crying and we were in the States and there was no yaya.
"And I'm like, 'oh my God,' I really questioned myself.
"Can I really do it because it's really going to push you to your limit because having a child is very special but your patience has to be your long and winding road because, technically, they're not really yours.
"You have to really think about it."
Because of her love for Chiz, Heart learned to accept and treat his kids as her own children.
She said, "If you really love somebody, honestly, it's a blessing that they have an extension or there's another person that's blood-related to them.
"So if you think about it that way, then go ahead and embrace it and remember we're only here in the world for a short time.
"It's nice to be okay with everybody and it's nice to have a lot of relatives."
Heart also said, "I'm very blessed that the kids of Chiz, they live with me and they've been living with me, and we're really happy and it all worked out.
"All of my fears all disappeared.
"I prayed a lot and everything is really good.
"Better than ever so I'm very thankful."
