Gone are the days when in vitro fertilization (IVF) is considered a taboo topic in the Philippine showbiz industry.
Since the Philippines' Lord of Scent Joel Cruz introduced his twins, who are born via a surrogate mother, many celebrities have successfully entertained the idea of welcoming a child via IVF.
In less than a decade, Joel welcomed his eight children, Prince Sean, Princess Synne, Harry, Harvey, Prince Charles, Princess Charlotte, Zeid, and Ziv.
In 2016, celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho also introduced their daughter, Scarlet Snow Belo.
Scarlet was born through an unnamed American-Mexican surrogate mother in March 2015.

In an article by Inquirer lifestyle, Joel Cruz revealed that he first went to Singapore for several IVF cycles, which revealed that he has "low sperm count and some abnormalities." After several tries, Joel welcomed his first two children, fraternal twins Prince Sean and Princess Synne to a Ukrainian surrogate mother in 2012.
