Single mom
In a previous interview, Valerie admitted that they no longer have contact with Jeremy. Despite the many challenges thrown at Valerie as a single mom, she still did her best to raise Heather Fiona.
Greatest fear
In an interview, Valerie revealed that her greatest fear was when Heather, who will be turning 16 this year, would be a teenage mom like her. She said, “Kinatatakutan ko na maging teenage mom din sya. Kasi ako napilitan akong mag-mature agad e. 'Yun 'yung ayoko sana, na hindi sya manakawan ng panahon, yung ma-enjoy nya yung normal na life.
Sisters
Valerie also revealed that Heather is like a sister to her. She said in an interview with Pep.ph, “Everything, lahat na nangyayari sa love life ko, I tell her and I also ask her opinion all the time. And then, kapag nakikita niya ako umiiyak, siya din nagko-comfort sa akin. Like, makikita mo Facebook posts niya, alam mong heartbroken ako kasi she would say, 'It's okay, mom! You can find the right one, the right guy for you.'”
Mother
For Valerie, “being a mother is an attitude and not a biological relation.” Aside from Heather, Valerie is also a stepmom to Francis's daughter, Aleya.
Blessing
Heather is a blessing to Valerie's life since she was born. The actress said in an interview, “Nagkaroon ako ng direction, in the sense na nag-i-strive hard ka not just for myself anymore but for her too.”
Graduate
In June, Valerie was a happy and proud mom as her daughter, Heather, graduated from high school at Miriam College.

To mark Heather's special day, Valerie dedicated a heartwarming message for her child on Instagram.
She wrote, “To my dearest daughter HEATHER: Today, you've unlocked the 18th birthday milestone. I don't know what I did to deserve such a kind, sweet, and loving daughter. You have a beautiful soul and I wish people can see you for the beautiful person that you are.
“I hope you know how much I love you and how proud I am of you. I am so grateful because I'm lucky and blessed to have you as my daughter and to be your mom. ILYSM!”
