GMA Network's Nessa Valdellon Returns to Asian Academy Creative Awards Jury

Nessa Valdellon, GMA Network’s First Vice President for GMA Public Affairs and Executive Vice President for GMA Pictures, joins the elite jury panel of the Asian Academy Creative Awards. This marks the fourth year Valdellon has served as an Asian Academy juror.

Valdellon’s leadership in GMA Public Affairs was instrumental in its evolution from a department focused solely on documentaries and news magazines to a powerhouse of creative content. The move gave audiences more diverse top-rated programs that include soaps, romantic comedies, historical dramas, and drama anthologies. Among the notable shows are the award-winning “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” “I-Witness," "The Atom Araullo Specials," "Lolong," and "Black Rider.”

As Executive Vice President for GMA Pictures, Valdellon has solidified its position as a leading force in Philippine cinema. The Network's production arm produced the internationally acclaimed film “Firefly,” which won Best Picture both at the Metro Manila Film Festival and the Manila International Film Festival in Los Angeles.

GMA Pictures, in collaboration with GMA Public Affairs continues to make further strides this year, having produced its first-ever investigative documentary film, “Lost Sabungeros,” which investigates what happened to over 30 cockfighters (sabungeros) that disappeared without a trace. Also in the pipeline is “Green Bones,” which has been announced as among the first five movie entries to have qualified for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Audiences can also look forward to the upcoming horror titles of GMA Pictures: including the star studded "KMJS' Gabi ng Lagim the Movie" led by Jessica Soho herself and "P77" featuring Barbie Forteza as audiences have never seen before.

Other GMA Network executives who will also be in the jury of the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards are Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President of GMA Films, Regie C. Bautista, Senior Vice President for Corporate Strategic Planning and Business Development and Concurrent Chief Risk Officer, and Cheryl Ching-Sy, Vice President for Drama under its Entertainment Group.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards recognizes excellence in content creation and media production of creative industries across multiple platforms, including television, feature films, digital, mobile, streaming, and emerging technologies across the Asia Pacific region.
