Kapuso programs and personalities were once again given honors for their efforts in educating the public through media and allied arts at the 2019 Platinum Stallion Media Awards by the Trinity University of Asia held last November 20.
For the third year in a row, GMA Regional TV triumphed as the Best Regional TV Network.
Winning just like the previous year as well were flagship newscast 24 Oras and top-rating program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, which both earned the Best News Program and Best Magazine Program awards, respectively.
Earning another back-to-back win was pioneering public affairs program I-Witness which was hailed as Best Documentary Show once again. Meanwhile, public service show Alisto and pioneer environmental program Born to Be Wild were likewise named as Best Public Affairs Program and as the Best Educational Program, respectively.
Taking home once more the Best Noontime Show award is the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Meanwhile, multi-awarded gag show Bubble Gang was recognized as Best Gag Show anew.
GMA News Pillars Jessica Soho, Mel Tiangco, and Arnold Clavio still remain as the choice of Trinitians. Soho was honored as this year’s Best Female News Anchor for GMA News TV newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho. Tiangco, on the other hand, was recognized as the Most Trusted Female Broadcast Journalist while Clavio was named as Most Trusted Male Broadcast Journalist.
Meanwhile, Atom Araullo was named as this year’s Best Male News Anchor. The Stand for Truth host has been regularly pinch-hitting for 24 Oras.
The Trinity University of Asia also recognized GMA’s inspirational epic drama series Sahaya as this year’s Culturally Relevant TV Series.
For the radio category, GMA’s Super Radyo DZBB 594 was hailed as the Best AM Radio Station while its Dobol A sa Dobol B was named as the Best Radio Commentary Program.
Radio personalities Melo del Prado and Susan Enriquez, on the other hand, were honored as Best Male AM Broadcast Journalist (Melo del Prado sa Super Radyo DZBB) and Best Female AM Broadcast Journalist (Kay Susan Tayo sa Super Radyo DZBB), respectively.
Rounding off the list of Kapuso winners were award-winning actress Glaiza de Castro who was hailed as the Best Film Actress for her role as Commander Liway in the indie film Liway and Queen of Creative Collaborations Heart Evangelista who in turn was named as the Female Social Media Influencer.
