True to its commitment to providing venues for new learnings and discourse on various issues, GMA Network—thru its regional arm GMA Regional TV—presents the ‘Kapuso Campus Tour: The Regional Masterclass Series’, which kicks off this Monday, December 10, at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium of Silliman University in Dumaguete City.
The ‘Kapuso Campus Tour: The Regional Masterclass Series’ is a partnership between GMA Network and seven top universities in various regions and aims to give students an opportunity to become part of relevant discussions on local and national issues, and get valuable insights from a panel of experts.
The first leg in Silliman University brings together award-winning broadcast journalist Atom Araullo; GMA News’ Senior Social Media Producer Audrey Domasian; GMA Network scholar and GMA Network Excellence Award finalist Eleazar Del Rosario; AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines President Rahiema Guerra; and RTV’s Balitang Bisdak anchor Cecille Quibod-Castro. They will talk about a wide-range of topics from ‘Mobile Journalism’, ‘Social Responsibility’, ‘Aiming for Excellence’, ‘Importance of Community News’, ‘Building Global Communities’, ‘Documentary-Making’, ‘#PusuanAngTotoo Campaign’, and to ‘Choosing The Next Leaders’.
“We at GMA Regional TV are excited to launch this project together with GMA News Online, GMA News and Public Affairs, GMA Excellence Awards, and AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines,” shares GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso. “This is a major component of the Network’s election advocacy, ‘Pusuan ang Totoo’, which is a call to stand for what is true; to fight against corruption and disinformation, and to choose leaders who will truly serve the country. Through this Masterclass Series, we hope that we can help our young voting population make informed choices so that they may choose the best leaders for our country,” he adds.
“We feel honored and grateful that GMA Network and Silliman University will stand side by side as partners in championing free and honest elections,” says Ann Marie Tan, GMA Regional TV Station Manager for Central and Eastern Visayas. “Our partnership aims to educate voters and protect democracy through the upcoming coverage of Eleksyon 2019. It is our objective to bring the Filipino people the most comprehensive and most trusted coverage of the mid-term national elections,” she adds.
Last October 19, GMA Network signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the most respected names in media, telecommunications, technology, the academe, business, and public service to bring the most trusted and in-depth multi-platform coverage of the 2019 Philippine mid-term elections. Silliman University was one of the partners from the academe.
