Derrick Monasterio sings theme song of Koreanovela ‘King of Ambition’

The young actor breaks new boundaries as he sings Gary Valenciano’s 'Kailangan Kita' for the GMA Koreanovela 'King of Ambition.'

Eighteen-year-old Derrick Monasterio has proven that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the showbiz industry. He continuously proves his performing skills in Sunday All Stars and acting prowess in The Half Sisters.
Now, he breaks new boundaries as he sings Gary Valenciano’s Kailangan Kita for the GMA Koreanovela King of Ambition.
To be able to work with GMA Records and sing a show’s theme song was a dream that Derrick never imagined would transpire. He has mixed feelings about the opportunity but he feels blessed to be chosen for it.
“It feels exciting, of course, [to] be able to work with my network’s recording management… I [am] nervous because I don’t know how people would react (but I hope the viewers like it),” he said.
Although his music career is only beginning to blossom, he has shown signs of doing well in the music industry even at a young age.
“Before I became an actor, I was a choir member… [and] it has always been a dream for me to hear myself on the radio,” he shared.
The young star hopes that this is only the start of many more music projects. “I want to become a pop, classical, ballad and light rock kind of singer,” he disclosed.
