Kapuso balladeer James Wright launched his newest music video “Ikaw yon” in a bloggers’ conference held February 12 at Annabel Lee Cafe, Timog Avenue, Quezon City.
The music video is not your typical love song since it reveals the unconditional love of a son for his long distance mother. “I love my mom a lot,” the Filipino-Australian singer said, adding, he draws inspiration and dedicates his work to her.
The single “Ikaw yon” from his self-titled album is directed by Jeffrey Hidalgo, written by Vehnee Saturno, and released under GMA Records.
“It was really fun,” the crooner said describing the making of the music video with Direk Jeffrey Hidalgo.
The Kapuso artist narrated that he has known the director for quite a while through work, and counts him as his close friend.
Though the concept of the video wasn’t his; James confesses that he's a mama’s boy in real life. “They wanted it to be light, funny, kilig,” he said, while putting a twist on the ending to be different.

“Gusto namin baliin [ang kanta],” Direk Jeffrey said, adding the song sounded serious so they had to reverse the outcome of the video.
He also added this is the first project he directed with this kind of concept. When asked who came up with the idea for the music video, the singer-turned-director said, “It was a team effort.”
Direk Jeffrey shared his basis is the emotion of the song which he listens to many times before forming a concept. He also hopes to collaborate with James on his next single since he found the Kapuso artist easy to work with.

“Meron siyang gravitas,” he complimented, describing Wright as “very telegenic, takes direction well, and executes [it] fast.”
The whole team lauded James, saying, he is very talented and has a lot of potential.
On the other hand, the “Ikaw yon” singer hopes to inspire people, especially children to “show the world you have to give back to your parents” through his songs from his album.
“Give back to people who have given to you” is the message he wants to put emphasis on.
