Fliptop expert Apekz Cadiente is one of the most promising rappers in the country.

He has been with the likes of Abra in fliptop battles. His song, Haring Araw, is produced by Artifice Records, Abra's label.

What is your opinion on the popularity of rap in the country?

Kasi ‘yung dati, more on underground siya eh. Tapos may lyrics na hindi talaga puwedeng patugtugin sa radyo. Sa tingin ko kasi nag-upgrade ‘yung bars, nag-upgrade ‘yung lyrics kaya mas kapansin-pansin siya. Mas applicable siya sa kahit anong sitwasyon.

Where do you get your inspiration when writing a rap song?

Minsan, research. Minsan ‘yung sinusulat ko, parte ng buhay ko. Halimbawa, mas madali ‘yun kesa doon sa gumagawa ka [na] kailangan mo lang ng kanta.

Who are your musical influences (local or international artist)?

Sina Eminem, Bone Thugs, sila Rakim, sila 2pac [and] Biggie. Kendrick Lamar, magaling siya. Dito naman sa atin sila Gloc, si Francis M, Stick Figgas.

What sets you apart from the other Pinoy rappers?

Sa tingin ko ‘yang tanong na ‘yan mas magandang itanong sa ibang tao -- mga nakakapansin, pero siguro tingnan na lang natin pag sabay-sabay kami nag-perform sa stage.

What is the one thing that makes you crazy about the Yuletide season?

Mga inaanak na hindi ko kilala. Inaanak ko ba talaga ‘to? Parang ganoon. Hindi naman sa ayaw pero minsan nakakatuwa siya. Pparang malalaman ko, marami na pala akong inaanak.
